From Michael San Filippo, your Guide to Italian
Caro Lettore,

Welcome to this weekend's edition of your About.com Italian Language Newsletter! An Italian parliamentary bill that proposes a new law to safeguard privacy has already had its intended effect. To protest the legge del bavaglio (gagging law), reporters and editors went on a 24-hour strike.

In the About.com Italian Language forums a community member gets help writing a letter to his loved one, and a discussion about how to represent the terms BC (before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini) in Italian. Plus the fifth canto of Paradiso in Dante's The Divine Comedy in both Italian and English, in which Dante ascends with Beatrice to the heaven of Mercury, where he finds a multitude of spirits. Lastly, there are Italian abbreviations and acronyms beginning with the letter V.

The Divine Comedy: Paradiso: Canto V
"«S'io ti fiammeggio nel caldo d'amore / di là dal modo che 'n terra si vede, / sì che del viso tuo vinco il valore,..."
