From Michael San Filippo, your Guide to Italian
Caro Lettore,

Welcome to this weekend's edition of your About.com Italian Language Newsletter! Thousands of Italians recently marched in Rome to protest against the government's austerity measures. The tutto sulle nostre spalle (it's all on our shoulders) manifestazione (protest) was organized by Italy's largest union, CGIL.

In the About.com Italian Language forums community members join in a rhyming game, and a question about the Italian-American term "capeesh." Plus the second canto of Paradiso in Dante's The Divine Comedy in both Italian and English, in which Dante admonishes his readers to reread the first two books of the poem if they were inclined to ignore the arduous theological theories of Heaven. Lastly, there are Italian abbreviations and acronyms beginning with the letter S.

Tutto Sulle Nostre Spalle

The tutto sulle nostre spalle (it's all on our shoulders) manifestazione (protest) was organized by Italy's largest union, CGIL.

The Divine Comedy: Paradiso: Canto II
"La gloria di colui che tutto move / per l'universo penetra, e risplende / in una parte più e meno altrove."
